Your gift supports our food bank programs, like Turkey Distribution.
Thank you for standing with us this holiday season!
Thank you for your gift! This November, we again celebrate a tradition of togetherness, and gratitude. From all of us here at the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center, we are thankful for you. We are honored by the collective generosity of time and funds that move us forward during crisis.
We know that visiting the food bank for the first time is not easy for many of our neighbors, especially during the holiday season. Stigma and shame undercut connectivity and togetherness. Our staff and volunteer team strive to center dignity and humanity in all we do – even more so during this time of year.
Our turkey distribution is always a memorable operation – silly turkey hats and all. Thousands of customers drive up in their cars in the span of a few hours to receive everything they need for a traditional holiday meal – A turkey, fixings, and all. This distribution is a special service we are only able to offer because of an outpouring of loving donations from our community.
All of us here at the food bank are consistently inspired by all of the support our community gives, and by all the smiles we see when a turkey gets taken home by a customer. We are lucky to be able to alleviate some of the pressure families may feel when planning for the holidays, sending over 2,400 holiday meals home with neighbors and friends alike. We share in their joy, relishing in the opportunity to celebrate food alongside them.
We live in the most special community on the planet – one where neighbors heed the call to don a turkey hat, drop off an extra bird at the food bank, and spend this season ensuring everyone has enough. We do this meaningful – and sometimes silly – work together. We know that we can’t eradicate stigma and shame through silly turkey hats alone. But often, they spark a smile. And that’s a start.
Thank you for standing with us this holiday season,
Amy Allison Thompson
